Frequently Asked Questions

What is the purpose of a Wash Station Light in NDT?

It is used during the intermediate wash step of a penetrant inspection to ensure that excess surface penetrant has been completely removed before applying the developer.

Wash station lights usually have a lower intensity than inspection lights (typically <1000 μW/cm²) to allow technicians to see background fluorescence without "overwhelming" the part.

Yes, most wash station lights are designed to be overhead mounted or wall-mounted with waterproof housings to withstand the high-humidity environment of the rinse area.
