TECTYL 891D, Class 1 ( (MIL-PRF-16173E) ) is a solvent-based, black asphaltic corrosion preventive compound designed to protect metallic surfaces in extreme environments. It forms a semi-hard, durable coating that shields metal components from moisture, chemicals, and environmental wear.

TECTYL 891D, Class 1 meets MIL-PRF-16173E, Grade 1, Class 1, ensuring high-performance protection.
TECTYL 891D, Class 1 is widely used in aircraft maintenance, storage, and corrosion prevention.
Although TECTYL 891D, Class 1 is designed for long-term protection, it can be removed if necessary using:
TECTYL 891D, Class 1 is commonly used for corrosion prevention in:

Tectyl 891D Class I is a solvent-cutback, black asphaltic corrosion preventive compound. Unlike waxy inhibitors, it cures to a firm, durable, black film that provides superior long-term protection for metallic surfaces in extreme indoor and outdoor environments, including international sea shipments.
It is fully qualified and QPL-approved under MIL-PRF-16173E, Grade 1, Class I. It also complies with MIL-P-116J, Type P-1, making it the standard preservation coating for military equipment, vehicle underbodies, and heavy machinery.
When applied at the recommended thickness, Tectyl 891D can provide up to 5 years of indoor protection and approximately 2 years of outdoor exposure protection. Its asphaltic base is highly resistant to UV rays, salt spray, and heavy rainfall.
In aviation, it is used for ground support equipment (GSE) and long-term storage of non-precision parts. In the marine industry, it is widely used as a "float coat" for ship rudders, ballast tanks, and voids where traditional painting is difficult or unsafe.
