Tectyl 502-C is a solvent-cutback, soft wax-base corrosion preventive compound. It is specifically engineered to provide long-term protection for both ferrous and non-ferrous metal parts during indoor and outdoor storage, as well as during international sea shipments where salt spray and high humidity are factors.
Tectyl 502-C is qualified to the MIL-PRF-16173E, Grade 2, Class 1 specification. This standard ensures the compound provides a dependable, non-staining, and water-displacing barrier for critical components in military and industrial supply chains.
The soft, waxy film formed by Tectyl 502-C remains semi-pliable. If the protective layer is accidentally scratched or nicked, the compound has a self-healing ability to flow back and "close" the gap, ensuring that the metal underneath is never exposed to oxygen or moisture.
The waxy film can be easily removed using petroleum solvents (such as mineral spirits), vapor degreasing, or high-pressure alkaline washers. It is designed to be temporary but durable, allowing parts to be protected during transit and cleaned quickly before assembly or use.
