Eastman Turbo Oil 2380™ is still one of the most widely used turbine oils in the commercial aviation industry. It was one of the first turbine oils to be qualified and approved for MIL-PRF-23699 STD (Standard) class and subsequently SAE AS5780 SPC (Standard Performance Capability) class

Eastman Turbo Oil 2380 is a 5-centistoke synthetic lubricant widely used in commercial aviation, specifically in turboprop and jet engines. It is highly recommended for accessories like generators and constant speed drives (CSDs) because of its exceptional ability to neutralize the effects of copper and extend component life.
Eastman 2380 is qualified to the MIL-PRF-23699 Class STD (Standard) and SAE AS5780 Class SPC (Standard Performance Capability). It is also approved under the UK military standard DEF STAN 91-101 and NATO code O-156, making it a globally recognized lubricant for complex fleets.
This oil is known for having the best low-temperature viscosity among all 5-cSt turbine oils. It allows for reliable engine starts after a "cold soak" at high altitudes or in arctic conditions (down to -40°C), reducing the risk of hard starts and minimizing wear on critical engine bearings during the initial startup phase.
One of the unique features of Eastman 2380 is its metal passivation ability, which neutralizes the catalytic effects of copper (Cu). By preventing copper-induced oxidation, the oil reduces sludge formation in accessories, leading to improved reliability and longer intervals between maintenance for on-wing components.
